Traditionally, project cost overruns and schedule slippages have been attributed to  failures of implementation.  Today, it  is evident that a large portion of project failures are actually failures due to poor estimation.  This one day course balances the “soft” and “hard” dimensions of estimation.

You will take away from this one day course:

• Various issues involved in estimating costs, schedules and resource requirements.
• Techniques to improve the accuracy of estimates.
• How to collect and archive data for future improved estimates.
• The psychological dimension of estimation.
• Different types of measures: nominal, ordinal and interval.
• The differing accuracy of conceptual, preliminary and definitive estimates.
• Forecasting techniques: scenario building, gap analysis, trend extrapolation and Delphi.
